Second Adjustment...Part Deux!

Hi there!  Guess it's been about a month since my last update, and in case you're wondering, I'm still chuggin' along!  Last post was on my wire change on Sept 26th, which all in all went pretty well.  I went to Hawaii for a scuba diving trip the first week of Oct (celebrating the big 3-0 for me!) and came back with all brackets and appliances in tact this time.  Speaking of appliances, I still had the trans palatal bar in after the second adjustment.  Ended up having super bad problems with it forcing me to go in and have it further adjusted a few days after the initial adjustment and wire change, but at least all was well when I left for Hawaii.  Doc said the bar may eventually push up into the roof of my mouth as it pulls my molars in, and last week it did exactly that.  And of course it did it on a Saturday morning when I was up for work at 4am and the orthodontist office is closed for the weekend.  So, I go in on Monday, which brings me to the second adjustment, part deux!

I think I've only had this thing in for a few months.  I thought for sure I would need it in longer, but I guess my molars are doing their thing, because instead of adjusting the bar and putting it back in, he took it out completely!  YES, thank you sweet baby Jebus!!!!  BUT, he giveth and he taketh..... he also then decided he wanted to swap out my lower wire for a wire that was the same thickness, but was bendable.  I noticed on the last adjustment he put in a wire on the top that he put in little bends and dips into (I guess fine tuning and moving each tooth a certain way as he saw fit), but didn't do it for my bottom.  So, now I'm all dippy on both the top and bottom.  I wasn't expecting the wire change and associated soreness, but it wasn't terrible.  I was sore on the left side for a day or two and my diet wasn't too restricted.  It was all worth it though to have that nasty bar out of the roof of my mouth, especially after it caused me so much discomfort over the weekend before I got in.

Next appointment is on November 13th for a wire change, but I think he's just doing my top wire and also taking off a few brackets on my bonded teeth so he can shave the bonding down and see the real tooth to be able to adjust it better.  I'm not too happy about that since the bonding is covering up some seriously messed up looking teeth that have chips and yellowed bad enamel spots to them, but it is what it is.  Hopefully the brackets will just cover most of it up.  I can't wait to be done with all of this and get the vaneers on those teeth!  Not that I'll be done with all of this anytime soon.  I'm really just towards the beginning with the surgery still the big hurdle to come.  Speaking of that, my husband got a new job with Google and will be able to pick up the insurance I need about 2.5 months before I would have been able to pick it up, so I'm going to get to consult with my surgeon earlier and get the low down on whats going on.  Maybe I'll have an idea of a surgery date by mid November, which at the moment is floating off of my orthodontist only (First was Jan/Feb, and now he's saying April/May, so who knows!).

And I had to throw in one from the Halloween party at the dropzone the other night.  We were Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad:
